Lely accessories

The modern dairy farmer relies on the Lely Astronaut robotic milking system to milk his cows. The farm is able to milk 24 hours a day focusing on the optimum well-being of both man and animal. With the aim of optimising the lives of both the dairy farmer and his cows, Lely has complemented its milking robot with a range of very useful accessories.

The manure disposal trap is suspended underneath the grid of the milking robot. This trap eliminates an open connection - which is prohibited in a number of countries - between the milking system and the manure pit underneath the robot. The trap comes in a variety of dimensions; the final size will always depend on the installation of the robot. The Shuttle milk-sampling unit is officially ICAR-approved for milk recording. The Shuttle automatically takes a sample of each milking during the period of milk recording. The filled sample bottles are offered to the milk recording organisation, together with a file from the management system containing cow numbers, yields and milking times. Water filter for the Pura steam cleaning system. The water filter cleans tap water in three stages and stores the demineralised water in a tank. Each time the Pura steam cleaning system needs water, it is retrieved from the tank. Major benefits of the water filter are a consistent water quality and a longer product life of the Pura steam cleaning system. The E-link control panel provides to the farmer the possibility to control several functions of the robot through a separate device e.g. manual connection of teat cups. Depending on the length of the cable (related to the specifications of the CAN protocol) the unit can also be used in places other than just the control room. Lely has put together a special 'extended tool kit' comprising approximately 50 different parts. Its contents are based on practical experiences from several Lely affiliates, including the parts that are needed for both 'simple' and 'urgent' repairs such as replacement of laser chain belts and flat cables. This toolbox is only available for farmers that have completed an OMSC course. The thermostatic mixing valve system can be used when there is a cheaper source of hot water available other than electrically heated water. One example of application of this valve: using the pre-heated water from the cooling system of the milk tank. The manure disposal trap is suspended underneath the grid of the milking robot.
