Correct use of chemicals

Once again, Lely would like to draw your urgent attention to the need to carefully handle products containing chemicals. As announced to our customers during an international mailing in January, a number of incidents have occurred on the premises of dairy farmers who work with a Lely Astronaut milking robot. Due to the unfortunate exchange of a jerrycan containing an udder care product for a jerrycan containing a cleaning agent, a substantial part of the herd sustained severe injuries. Despite clearly different labelling and packaging colours, these two products were exchanged due to an incorrect connection of the suction hoses. For more information, click here.

These incidents have given Lely rise to further elucidate on and emphasize the importance of all relevant warnings associated with chemical cleaning agents and udder care products, as well as to put urgent measures in place. This is of paramount importance to your own safety as well as to the overall safety of the herd.

In addition, we are gradually implementing technical solutions to avoid these mistakes in future.
