Numerous benefits
The new non-steered SevenLine pick-up by Lely:
- Boasts high capacity thanks to good crop throughput
- Offers lower resistance thanks to non-steered tines
- Has fewer moving parts because there is no need for cam track steering
- Is maintenance-free because components need no lubrication
- Leaves no grass behind thanks to the seven closely spaced tine rows
Good forage starts with clean loading
The wide pick-up on Lely Tigo loading wagons is able to run at a relatively low rotational speed thanks to the seven tine bars with closely spaced tines – 54 mm. This means that the crop is picked up gently and flows smoothly to the cutting rotor.
Good crop throughput for maximum capacity
Good crop throughput results in a constant intake load which means that maximum capacity can be achieved with minimal power and wear. The pick-up and cutting rotor are positioned close together and run at virtually the same relatively low speed providing excellent crop flow handling by the cutting rotor.
Wear-resistant and maintenance-free
Since the new non-steered pick-up does not have a cam track, the pick-up unit consists of fewer moving parts. This is more reliable, less sensitive to wear, quiet and maintenance-free. Furthermore, the tines are reinforced and all components are thermally galvanised to protect them even more effectively against the elements and corrosive sap from the crop. The result is clear to see; lower maintenance costs and a higher trade-in value!
An efficient cutting rotor makes the difference
Lely Tigo wagons feature the most efficient cutting rotor so you, the customer, can derive the maximum yield from your investment. Accordingly, rotor tines determine the power requirement as well as the cutting result from the cutting arrangement. The power saved in driving the unit is put to good use by the wide tines in improved filling of the wagon. Increased fills mean much improved utilisation of haulage time.
Wide tines for maximum cutting action
Good cutting results in better fermentation and feed absorption. The Lely Tigo cutting rotor has a very small gap between the tines and the knives. The gap between the knives is just 37 mm and is filled by 25 mm wide tines. The flat edges on the tines drive the crop crosswise through the knives, thus achieving a perfect cut.
Easily varied cutting length
For the Lely Tigo R Profi models the minimum cutting length is just 37 mm! Cutting length is easily varied because not every crop is the same and not all livestock farmers have the same requirements. The full set of knives is actually split into two groups so the selection can easily be made between not cutting, cutting to 74 mm or cutting to 37 mm.
Easily replaced knives and tines
The entire cutting arrangement can be lowered hydraulically to the maintenance position. This provides easy access to the knives and tines of the cutting rotor. A knive can be replaced quickly and easily without the use of tools. It is also possible to replace a ring of tines on the cutting rotor without having to remove the rotor. The ring consists of three sections which means it can be replaced while the remaining rings are still in place.
Wide edges for maximum force transfer
The thrust action of the rotor is the most significant factor in determining the extent to which the wagon is filled. At large forces per cm² both pulping of the crop and power losses occur. The Lely Tigo rotor delivers increased thrust for the same force per cm² thanks to the large surface of the wide flat tines. This results in better quality forage and a more fully loaded wagon.
Maximum performance, minimum power
The power requirement for the cutting arrangement is low because there is no opportunity for the grass to get into the minimal gap between the knives and the tines. When pushing, the wide edges on the tines have maximum contact with the crop, thus reducing losses due to slip to a minimum.
Reliable due to good obstacle protection
The almost vertical position of the knives and the release spring allow a knive simply to move back if an obstacle comes between the rotor and the knive. As the spring gives, the force on the knive reduces, thus saving the rotor and the knives from damage. Once the obstacle has been negotiated the knive returns to its operating position again.
A reliable chassis for a long lifetime
The newly designed chassis with the stanchions placed close to one another ensures outstanding stability. The classical C-shaped longitudinal supports – with a height of 225 mm – are bevelled on the inside. This makes for additional stability and keeps crop from accumulating ensuring fast and trouble-free unloading. The chassis is thermo-galvanized all around to guarantee extra long life.
Parabolically sprung tandemfor steady road-holding
The Lely Tigo R should have steady road-holding in all circumstances. Therefore, a parabolically sprung tandem assembly has been opted. Thanks to this assembly the Tigo can manage high speeds on the road; at the same time excellent ground contour following is ensured in the field or clamp. The heavy-duty leaf springs ensure optimum driving comfort while the ample pendular range makes sure that the load is distributed proportionally among the two axles.
Boogie tandem – large tyres and ample pendular range
For the bigger Lely Tigo R Profi and Combi wagons, maximum stability as well as adaptiveness are required. The large tyres need ample travelling distance and therefore these wagons feature a heavy-duty Boogie tandem. This tandem ensures much stability so that optimum output can be achieved even when operating on slopes.
Large or small wheels – always a level floor
Normally, larger tyre sizes cause the loading floor to rise obliquely because the pick-up remains at the same height. To avoid this situation, the Lely Tigo chassis can be fitted to the feeder unit at different heights. After all, a wagon that has a perfectly horizontal position can be loaded and unloaded more effectively.
Deflecting drawbar
The infinitely adjustable deflecting drawbar ensures a low linkage to the tractor. As standard the deflecting drawbar is supplied with a pivotable drawbar eye but a ball joint can be supplied as well. The hydraulic drawbar suspension – standard on the Lely Tigo Profi and Combi models – reduces shocks between the wagon and the tractor and ensures that the wagon follows the tractor smoothly.
