Maassluis, 27 April, 2012 – This afternoon alderman Arnold Keijzer laid the foundation stone for the new Lely business premises in the Dijkpolder at Maassluis. This ceremony took place after mayor Koos Karssen, CEO Alexander van der Lely and the alderman had placed their signatures on the pile, suitably painted in Lely red. More than 700 employees, municipality officials and various people involved in the construction of the premises attended this event at the building site alongside the motorway.
The Lely company looks back on an eventful week, in which a brand-new product for the dairy farming business was introduced as well: the Lely Vector automated feeding system. CEO Alexander van der Lely welcomed his employees and relations with the words: “Laying the foundation stone for our new premises is the start of a new future, a centre for innovation and creativity, the Lely Campus.”
Mayor Koos Karssen made a succinct and powerful speech, in which he expressed his gratitude towards the innovative Lely company. He said: “We are proud that the most sustainable business premises of Europe will be built here in Maassluis.”
The new premises will be housing all office staff and production co-workers of the Lely facilities in Maassluis and Rotterdam. The aim is to put the new Lely premises into operation in June 2013.
