Lely Vector wins Bronze Sickle

Maassluis, 18 September, 2012 – The Lely Vector has won the 2012 Bronze Sickle. This award for innovation was presented at the AgroTechniek Holland show in Biddinghuizen, the Netherlands. At this largest agri-business event in the Netherlands, more than 250 manufacturers, importers and dealers presented their innovations in the field of tractors, machinery, equipment, milking technique as well as barn equipment.

A professional jury judged the innovative and distinctive character for the future of the agricultural business of 106 innovative entries. The Lely Vector, which was launched late April, is the most flexible automated feeding system in the world; it ensures that cows are fed consistently, on time and in sufficient rations. The system permanently supplies feed in a flexible manner, 24 hours a day and 7 days a week. The mixing and feeding robot features a feed level sensor that measures exactly how much feed there is in front of the feed gate. In the market place, the Lely Vector is recognised as a product that is just as trail-blazing as the Lely Astronaut milking robot.

The professional jury were unanimous in their verdict: “Automatic, flexible and fresh feeding of cows is a leap forward for farmers, because the feeding sensor in the system saves them thinking and calculating. This system stimulates animal health and ensures optimal milk production. In addition to labour saving and restricting feed losses, it also simplifies dairy management as well as increasing efficiency.”
