Lely Tigo S - The first loader wagon with a non-steered pick-up

Lely Tigo S - The first loader wagon with a non-steered pick-up

In view of the oncoming season Lely introduces a large number of improvements and modifications to its range of Lely Tigo loader wagons. One of the most striking innovations of 2011 can be found on the highly successful Tigo S loader wagon in that Lely has launched the first rake-fed loader wagon with ‘camless pick-up’.

This non-steered device is the 1.80 m wide pick-up that is so well-proven on the Lely Tigo R loader wagon with cutting rotor. The innovative character of this pick-up is the construction of the pick-up band, which has been so designed that there is no need to steer the tines through a cam track. This hugely reduces the number of moving parts and ensures that the Lely pick-up is entirely maintenance-free. Since the results of this non-steered pick-up are so convincing, it will become a standard feature on all Lely Tigo loader wagons.

The simple construction of the non-steered pick-up provides the possibility to incorporate more tine bars than before. Previously, the pick-up was fitted with 4 tine bars while the wagon now features 5 tine bars. In combination with the upgraded tines, which are placed near to one another - tine distance 54 mm - this ensures a clean crop pick-up as well as maximum pick-up capacity. The position of the pick-up being close to the feed rotor and optimum tuning of the various rpm rates guarantee optimum crop throughput towards the cutting device.

The pick-up is equipped with a new, flexible suspension system. This allows slight swinging of the pick-up, which optimises ground contour following, allowing the pick-up performance on uneven terrain to be improved.

In spite of their conventional build, Lely Tigo S loader wagons provide an excellent alternative for modern loader wagons with a cutting rotor. The feed unit provides high throughput and is extremely durable; it can be fitted with 33 knives with a 38 mm cutting length. Due to their compact construction and relatively low unladen weight, these loader wagons are perfectly suited for operations on sloping fields. For the extreme slopes of the Alpine area, extra low wagon models with larger track widths are available as well.

By adding the feature of the camless pick-up, Lely has enhanced this highly professional and comprehensive range of loader wagons with an extra dimension.
