Maassluis, 28 June 2012 – Lely Triodor won a Technology Award for software development on 14 June in Istanbul. The company was one of 192 applicants and ranked among the three finalists that each received an award in their category.
Lely Triodor won the award for its pioneering development and continuous improvement of the Lely T4C (Time for Cows) management system. This innovation gives dairy farmers an insight into the health, production and wellbeing of their cows. Lely T4C also provides business-specific information for herd management.
The prestigious Turkish Technology Awards have been presented since 1998 to companies that distinguish themselves through high-tech solutions. The annual competition is organised by TÜSIAD, the Turkish employers’ organisation, in cooperation with two bodies involved in technological research and development. The aim is to recognise Turkish companies and encourage them to develop innovative products and technologies. As Turkey has traditionally had a manufacturing industry in particular, the government wishes to give the R&D sector an additional stimulus and encouragement. Some 482 applications have been submitted since the competition was first held in 1998. To date, 51 companies have received awards for their projects.
Serge Loosveld, Software Engineering Manager at Lely, and Umut Akpinar, CEO of Triodor, are convinced that this award will enable Lely Triodor to create numerous new opportunities locally. “We will become even more visible to key Turkish organisations such as research institutes and universities. That may well lead to new forms of cooperation and interesting assignments”, says Akpinar. “This award”, adds Loosveld, “reinforces our reputation, also within the Turkish labour market. I foresee a growing interest in our company as an employer.”
Lely Triodor, located in Istanbul with 35 employees, develops products for the robotic milking and feeding of cows. The Lely T4C (Time for Cows) management system was launched in 2009 for the first time on the Astronaut A3 Next milking robot. Today over 6,000 dairy farms around the world are using the system on a continuous basis.
