How does it work?

Milk tank alarms on your mobile phone
All operations are controlled from the very simple to operate control unit on the Lely Nautilus milk cooling tank. The control unit regulates and monitors the Lely Nautilus milk cooling tank, controlling the cleaning of the tank, the cooling of the milk and agitation. Moreover, it stores historical data regarding cooling and cleaning temperatures for traceability purposes. Unique is that the control system of this tank can also generate alarms for possible malfunctions of the tank. These alarms can be communicated through the CRS+ control system of the Lely Astronaut milking robot to, e.g., the farmer’s mobile phone, in a speech message with a specifi c tank alarm message.

Automatic start-up of the milk tank after cleaning
Due to advanced technology, communication between the Lely Astronaut milking robot and the Lely Nautilus milk cooling tank is possible. This communication makes it possible that once the milk tank has been successfully emptied and cleaned, it will automatically start-up again. The farmers attention is no longer required for restarting the tank after cleaning.

No ice forming in the tanks
The Lely Nautilus milk cooling tanks are designed in such a way that ice formation is not possible when the fi rst milk fl ows into the empty tank. By attuning the cooling capacity to the volume of milk present in the tank, ice formation is impossible.

Excellent cleaning due to unique spray head
The spray head used in all Lely Nautilus milk cooling tanks is unique and regarded as the best spray head on the market today. Due to its 360° rotating spray heads, 100% of the inner tank’s surface is reached, giving the farmer a guarantee of superb hygiene in the tank. The spray head itself turns by the water pressure thanks to frictionless rotation on Delrin bearings. Delrin is a lightweight, low-friction, and wear resistant plastic capable of operating in temperatures in excess of 90° Celsius. The cleaning system of all the Nautilus tanks has eight different phases and four different programmes to choose from, for maximum fl exibility. Water consumption differs per cleaning programme. To ensure no calcium deposits build up in the spray holes, the holes through which the water passes are sawn open, not drilled.

Environment and energy consumption
The best refrigerant available for milk cooling systems regarded in terms of the economy and the environment, R134a cooling gas, is used as standard in Nautilus milk cooling models. R134a is the most environmentallyfriendly gas, in relation to the global warming potential on the market today. Another advantage of cooling gas R134a is that it is possible to run the cooling unit at low pressure. This will save energy and is better for the cooling unit equipment, such that the lifetime of the tank will be extended in the long term. For specifi c applications, R404a is offered as alternative.
