Cow traffic simulation program
Planning a new dairy unit raises lots of questions. Lely has built up many years of experience in designing new barns, although requirements will of course differ from place to place all over the world. Therefore, for special circumstances we recommend simulation of the barn design with the aid of a well-known company: SI-modelling. This company has developed a simulation programme to check the eventual efficiency of the proposed design. This simulation model is based on Astronaut milking robot data.
We have made a small animation to show you the capabilities of the program. This simulation runs a 3 row barn in comparison with a 4 row cubicle barn as both barns are common to built, although the simulation shows the limitation of the 4 row barn, which is the limited feed bunk space and therefore creating difficulties in optimal output of the Astronaut milking robot.
The cow traffic simulation programme may show cows in any of the three following colours:
Green: active cow
Red: inactive cow, for example waiting at the drinking station
Blue: cow in between two actions, for example walking from her cubicle to the Astronaut milking robot
