Renewed Lely Campus BREEAM certified
In this story we highlight the energy efficiency at the Lely Campus and Lely Campus phase 2. We spoke with two experts for this story: Bryan Post is Technical Property Manager at Lely and Bram van der Smagt works as a Technical Administrator. Both work within the Property Management team, location Weverskade.
Eliminating energy waste
Why work and act in a traditional way, knowing things could be improved to eliminate energy waste? During our Christmas break, the Lely Campus and production facility are closed. Still, during this time the heating system of the property worked full time. Bram: “For the first time ever we decided to change the settings of the system to our weekend standards. By doing so, the temperature in the building lowers. If you would turn off the heating system, it takes longer to reheat – which involves more energy use and therefore more costs. The results are significant: compared to the same period the year before we saved 24.000 kWh of electricity, 6.698 m3 of natural gas and 12 tons of CO2. We now lower the temperature in the building during public holidays in The Netherlands to benefit our energy efficiency.”
Lely Campus phase 2
In the summer of 2022 the Lely Campus phase 2 will be delivered. Bram: “Our new building has been built with a BREEAM (Building Research Establishment Environmental Assessment Method) Outstanding certification and solar panels are installed to generate our own energy. BREEAM-NL has four quality marks and Outstanding is the highest mark. We have developed a more sustainable environment that enhance the well-being of the people who work in it and help protect natural resources.” The new construction is in line with Lely’s sustainability goals, as we previously have seen with Campus Phase 1; a BREEAM-NL New construction and renovation certified.
We build in a Smart way. A Smart Building is a property that uses automated processes to automatically control the building’s operations. Maximizing user comfort while minimizing energy consumption. Bryan: “Being innovative should always be a part of our approach at Property Management. We constantly reevaluate our processes to meet the standards. Thanks to innovation, it is possible to deliver all the services whilst making the building as efficient as possible; minimizing costs and increasing energy savings.”
