This management system makes it easier to monitor calf performance and identify health disorders at an early stage. Various apps can display data such as:
- Drinking behaviour yesterday and today
- Milk consumption per day
- Drinking rate per day
- Total milk (powder) consumption
In combination with a scale, it is also possible to show current weight and weight gain per calf.
All data can be presented in a clear manner on a PC, laptop, tablet or smart phone. Intuitive operation makes this system quite suitable for daily monitoring of calves.
The management system can also give a warning when the drinking rate is too low, the drinking process is frequently interrupted or the milk consumption is insufficient. These can all be indicators of impaired calf health.
The automated feeder has been improved in a number of ways. The processor is faster with higher storage capacity. The automated feeder rapidly recognizes which calf wants to drink. Alongside the temperature sensor there is a button for young calves to learn to drink from the automated feeder, which is directly integrated into the identification process. This is now more accessible, making training even easier. Furthermore, an integrated LED light indicates the status of the drinking process.
Farm managers who already have a Lely Calm machine and wish to enjoy all the benefits of the new Control version can use an update kit for this purpose. More information about this automated calf feeder, its specifications and the update kit is available via Lely Center locations.

10 years of Vector, thanks to our test and validation customers!
Lely installed the first Vector system on a number of dairy farms back in 2011. The Overbeek family in Benschop run such a farm, (NL), where they had already shown an interest in automatic milking and feeding when building a new barn for their dairy cows. The family initially started using the Astronaut A3 Next for automatic milking, then also switched to the Lely Vector for automatic feeding. Kees and Sjors Overbeek had already used automatic feeding at their old farm, but it was a rail system. The Vector offered them much more flexibility.

Lely is introducing a unique concept for autonomous feeding with fresh grass
Maassluis, 6 October 2020 - Lely is launching the first concept for the fully autonomous harvesting and feeding of fresh grass: Lely Exos. With this system, dairy farmers can use a large part of their grassland to produce fresh feed. As a result, they use the nutritional value of their roughage more efficiently, and can produce more milk from their own grassland. This solution is completely compatible with making dairy farms circular. In addition, the system saves on labour and feed costs.

Lely improves the feed accuracy, capacity, mixing and cutting quality of the Vector feeding system
Lely introduces a faster auger motor for the Vector feeding system. The higher rotational speed of the auger improves the mixing and cutting quality. As a result, less mixing time is required, which increases the capacity of the feeding system. The faster auger motor also empties the mixing tub better. This increases the feed accuracy of the next ration.
