What is your role?

Lely is looking for a valued professional! With over 25,000 robots installed worldwide constantly uploading sensor and performance data to the cloud, we are seeking a passionate data analyst to help us harvest the learnings. Do you have the knowhow and expertise to prioritise an extensive range of data-related issues? Would you like to put your longstanding experience and data analytical skills to good use by helping farmers optimize their robotic milking systems? If so, Lely would like to hear from you.

The Farm Management Support department is committed to supporting dairy farmers in all the areas associated with Lely products and overall farm management. Data analysis and visualisation are key to supporting our advisors in providing the information and knowledge needed for our customers to successfully manage their farms in accordance with their goals. Our Data analyst provide sound quantitative feedback needed for innovations and monitor key metrics for our new product validations.

What will your job involve?

Using data and analytical expertise, you will assist in the response to the practical issues that dairy farmers and Lely advisors raise. You will need to engage and empathize with them.  Your skills will enable you to discover correlations, because you are able to make the connection between practice-related data and theory. You will be expected to present the findings in an appropriate and reliable manner.

Your role involves collaboration with  other analysts (also from third parties) and with Farm Management colleagues all over the world, monitoring processes together and making information accessible using dashboards. You will analyse interesting trends in terms of data, and create visualisations and dashboards to assist Lely in data interpretations to make fact-based decisions. With your overview of capabilities, it will also be your task to monitor the roll out systems for our colleagues in the field and ensure minimal technical challenges. In addition, as an experienced expert you will be responsible for timely, complete and adequate reporting.

Working with various stakeholders, you will be committed to the support of current products, but also responsible for, and part of, the analyses that lead to innovations. The high-quality insights that result from your analyses will assist advisors in the performance of their duties. You will lead in the development of analytical tools to be used by advisors in the field, as well as be responsible for developing the training on the optimal use of such tools.

    What is your experience?

You are familiar with the farming business and you are interested in acquiring in-depth insight into the available data. You are a true unifier; good at building relationships (also online) and capable of working on a project basis. In addition, you are able to empathise with the interests of dairy farmers, advisors, technicians, engineers, researchers and product developers ensuring, by virtue of your broad data expertise, interesting analyses and process optimisation.

    Other assets:

    • You have completed a study at higher vocational or university level.
    • You have an excellent command of spoken and written English.
    • You have an affinity with the dairy farming industry.
    • You have at least 5 years of experience in a relevant role and a sound knowledge of programming languages such as SQL, Python and programs such as Microsoft SQL Server Management Studio and Tableau.
    • You have a data-driven mind-set undeterred by the scope of the challenge.
    • You are capable of visualizing data and you know how to handle comprehensive data sets.
    • You have problem-solving skills, as well as,  the drive to work with enhanced effectiveness and efficiency.
    • You know how to present yourself and you have good communications skills, courage, charisma  and the power of persuasion.
    • Your stakeholder-management capabilities (both in-house and beyond) are outstanding.
