What is your role?

Lely is a Dutch company that develops and builds robots for the dairy industry. It is Lely’s goal to fully automate the day-to-day farm processes so farmers can spend time doing the things they love. At Lely, we develop Lely’s Farm Management Solution, which is called Lely Horizon. Horizon directly interfaces with the Lely robots on the farm and provides farmers with key insights into their business. The application is rolled out to 10s of thousands of farms worldwide.
Given that Lely deals with live animals, delivering high quality, bug-free software is crucial. That’s why we feel it is important to take extra time to properly document code, write unit tests and perform code reviews. For both the Cloud software and the software deployed to the farm, our aim is to move towards continuous delivery.

  • Supporting the continuous development of our Horizon management software package;
  • Obtain and maintain an in-depth knowledge of the business processes of a dairy farm;
  • Identify performance bottlenecks and implement performance improvements;
  • Translate functional requirements into technical requirements;
  • Identifying and disseminating "best practice" in the development and maintenance of applications and systems;

What is your experience?

  • Bachelor in Computer Science/Engineering or similar;
  • A few years working experience as a C# and .NET Developer;
  • Experience working with RDBMS and NoSQL databases;
  • Excellent knowledge of RESTful API Development;
  • Knowledge about designing and engineering for cloud environments such as Azure and AWS;
  • Experience with developing microservices;
  • Excellent command of the English language, both spoken and written (Dutch is a plus);
  • Willing to travel;

What do we offer you?

An amazing job at an international company that is constantly at the forefront of the agricultural sector to make the life of the farmer ever easier, more sustainable and more profitable. In order to support our international growth as Lely and to realize our even greater ambitions, your new department has an important role in protecting and creating value for our organization.

Lely continues to develop and thus remains challenging. Further:

  • Working in an international environment at one of the most innovative organizations in the Netherlands;
  • Working on the ultramodern Lely Campus in Maassluis;
  • Excellent employment conditions, including 27 vacation days & 13 scheduled days off;
  • Salary up to a maximum of €5600,- gross per month, where we would like to see that there is still room for growth;
  • An open working environment with, among other things, flexible working hours and possibilities to work remotely;
  • Freedom in organizing your own work;
  • Good environment for personal development & growth;
  • Our Lely Academy with a range of different training courses;
  • #FitatLely program with our own Lely Gym where you can exercise for free, (online) sports lessons, masterclasses about working from home and other activities in the field of Body, Mind or Food.

...and our own barista on the Lely Campus who makes the best cappuccinos from fresh milk, directly from the farmer.

In order to be able to answer the food challenge before 2050, it is of great importance to continue to deal responsibly with people, animals and the environment. For us it means that we want to be a reliable long-term partner for our customers. And we also want to pass the world on to the next generation by developing our products sustainably. You can contribute to the realization of this dream.
