As a Lead Engineer Embedded Software at Lely, you will head a team of at least ten embedded software engineers working on the ongoing development and maintenance of our automated milking systems. Like any true people manager, you will coach your team in terms of their professional and social skills, liaising closely with every team member to monitor their career path. In this role, you will be responsible for developing and monitoring the technical roadmap, making sure that the needs of customers are effectively converted into technical specifications.

What will be your major tasks?

  • Leading a software development team, with whom you will go through all stages of the product development process to arrive at a production-worthy system.
  • Coaching and stimulating your people.
  • Working with a test-driven approach to translate requirements into robust software designs.
  • Supervising the design, testing and implementation of new embedded software.
  • Maintaining existing embedded software.
  • Ensuring proper quality assurance based on factors including design and code reviews, as well as the setting up of unit and integration tests.
  • Monitoring and adapting the Agile working process.
  • Developing and monitoring the roadmap.

What is your experience?

We are looking for an empathetic and trustworthy professional. Someone with a keen awareness of the working environment and with excellent communication skills, who can also lead their team by acting as a role model. You will also need to fulfill the following requirements.

  • A completed course of study at higher vocational or university level.
  • Two or more years of managerial experience.
  • Experience with programming languages such as C, C ++ and Python.
  • Experience with software development on operating systems such as Linux.
  • Knowledge of object-oriented software development and a test-driven approach (TDD).
  • Knowledge of networks and protocols, including CAN or Ethernet.
  • Experience in working within multidisciplinary Agile Scrum teams.
  • A constructively critical attitude and the ability to handle the dynamics of an innovative business.
