What is your role?

Lely Product Development

The Lely organization is quickly growing and has a strong ambition to further increase its pace in order to help dairy farmers in securing an enjoyable, sustainable and profitable future. In this dynamic environment we want to maximize the potential of our employees through variation in assignments, courses and dedicated coaching.

 The Lely Product Development team is organised in a matrix model, where Competence Centers assure availability of required development competencies, tools and supporting processes. Product Development has competence centers for Mechanical engineering, Electronics, Embedded software, Front-end software, Data & AI and for Sensor development.

The development of our robotic solutions takes place in a multi-disciplinary setup, where engineers from different competence centers collaborate in a project organization.

Lead Engineer Robotic Electronics Development

Lely’s robotic solutions are increasingly becoming intelligent, sensing its environment, and adapting to this environment constantly. This implies more and more electronics and electrical sub-systems are part of our solutions.

The Lead Engineer Robotic Electronics Development will lead the current team of about 7 electronic engineers. Delivering our product roadmap towards 2025 will require a growth of this team in the near future.

Your role

You will lead the Electronics Engineers who are working on our AGV’s electronics. This means taking the technical lead but also take care of the (personel) development of the engineers in your team. Furthermore we expect you to combine technical pride and personal ownership in close collaboration with disciplines like system architecture, software, mechanical engineering and Data & AI teams. We outsource the design of detailed electronics and PCB’s to partners, so cooperating with these partners is essential.

You are member of the Competence Center Embedded Software and Electronics, reporting to the Head of this Competence Center.

What is your experience?

  • MSc/PhD in electrical engineering or mechatronics engineering (including disciplines that combine these like e.g. aerospace engineering).
  • A minimum of 8 years experience in developing electronics in a mechatronics environment.
  • At least 5 years in a lead or senior engineer position, guiding (senior) engineers.
  • Worked in a multidisciplinary environment.
  • Motor drives, CANbus, Ethernet, (vision) processor boards, IO boards and sensor interfacing have no secrets for you.
  • People focus, secure base leadership.
  • Experienced in electronics design for manufacturing.
  • Strong communication skills towards development team and our development partners.
  • Experienced in a manufacturing environment where machines are produced in serial production.
  • Result oriented, on technology development and in delivering value to our customers.

What do we offer you?

A job for a true inventor, at a company driven by innovation. You will see your ideas come to life as they leave the factory to our customer, the dairy farmer. At the end you will contribute to a sustainable way of farming.

We offer..

  • flexibility in terms of working times and conditions;
  • variety one day you will be at the workshop, another day on the farm and the next day you will work at the main office;
  • the space and freedom to innovate, construct new ideas and tinker in our workshop;
  • 40 holidays per year;
  • the tastiest coffee you will ever drink, courtesy of our barista;
  • time for fun: table football, volleyball and a basketball court.
