What is your role?

Over the past years Lely has introduced several new-to-market robotics solutions and has built a reputation as a very innovative and dependable supplier to dairy farmers.

In our Product Development department, we design robotic solutions for dairy farmers ranging from fully autonomous feeding robots, manure cleaning robots to milking robots and several others. We are responsible for both concept design of new product generations as well as life cycle management of existing products.

Due to the innovative character and complexity of our products, we apply a systems engineering approach in our projects. This approach focuses on multi-disciplinary collaboration and a holistic point of view. This approach is combined with our unique way-of-working to stimulate innovation, initiative, creativity, and responsibility.

Due to our sustainable growth, we are looking for an experienced systems engineer who will be responsible for making system design decisions by integrating the viewpoints of the different engineering disciplines. You will make sure that the system design satisfies the stakeholder and system requirements which you will develop as part of the project. In this role you will be the technical leader of the project and responsible for delivering the optimal solution.

In addition to this senior technical role, you will be responsible for the technical and personal development of a group of 7 to 12 systems engineers. You have a genuine interest in people, and you can bring about the best in others by focusing on individual strengths and leading by example.

What is your experience?

  • Technical degree (MSc or PhD) in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Control Engineering, or related engineering discipline.
  • A minimum of 10 years of work experience with the development of robotics or mechatronic products.
  • A minimum of 5 years of work experience with systems engineering, including requirements engineering and system architecting.
  • A minimum of 2 years of experience with leading a small team.
  • Genuine interest in people and excellent communication skills.
  • Fluent in English and preferably in Dutch.
