What is your role?

At Lely we develop products that make life of a farmer easier, healthier and more sustainable. Data is the foundation for the future farm management. Data applications drive (automated) decision-making. We control robot processes using sensor data and we support the farmer with measurement based cow health reports. Sensor development is therefore an enabler for many existing and new Lely products.

What is your role?

As a Sensor Systems Engineer you have a good overview of Lely robotic products and are aware of the needs and opportunities to collect sensor data. You are able to translate those needs into technical requirements and play a central role in developing sensor system concepts. You will work in multidisciplinary project teams that turn ideas into real sensor products ready for large production. Therefore, we are looking for someone with good communication skills.

Your main responsibilities are:

  • Developing sensor concepts that fit in and shape our product and technology roadmaps. 
  • Contribute to the process of writing down technical requirements.
  • Reviewing mechanical and electrical designs to ensure that sensor requirements are met.
  • Set-up and conduct rapid experiments following the fail-fast principle.
  • Support the formal verification of sensor system products.
  • Work closely together with hardware testers, farming domain experts and data & AI specialists.

What is your experience?

  • You have a master’s degree in a relevant engineering discipline.
  • You have at least 5 years of experience in system development.  
  • You have a broad understanding of sensors and underlying principles.
  • You have experience with setting-up experiments, collecting and analyzing measurement data.
  • You are good in reporting and presenting results.
