As a Software engineer within Lely you are responsible for the further development and the maintenance of our automated milk systems and other advanced autonomous robots.

As part of the software development team you participate in every phase of the product development process to finalize a production worthy system. You cover the process from the actual hardware platform all the way through to supporting the robot team to final release.

Your responsibilities are:

  • Adding new hardware support (Kernel/drivers/filesystems). 
  • Developing and maintaining our Embedded Linux Distribution (base install, updates).
  • Supporting Robot Teams in using our Embedded Linux Distribution.
  • Developing and supporting of our CI/CD Pipeline to produce image based Robot (OTA) updates using Make/Bash/Python/GitLab/Docker.
  • Being at the forefront of our cloud base OTA solution.
  • Designing and implementing Automated Test and Test System.
  • Using your Linux Skills to improve the Security of our robots.
  • Investigating and fixing bugs in Kernel/Drivers together with Robot and electronics teams.
  • Ensuring quality control based on design and code reviews, writing of unit and integration tests.
  • Contributing to the agile work process by reporting on your planning, project progress and managing risks and threats.

What is your experience?

You have a bachelor’s or master’s degree in Computer Science (or a similar study). Furthermore:

  • You have run and maintained your own Linux installation for at least 3 years - bonus points for compiling kernel and mailinglist activity.
  • You have at least 3 years of experience with software development – bonus points for Embedded, Makefile and Bash.
  • You have working experience with Scrum and Agile.
  • You know your way around Git – bonus points for commandline.
  • You are willing to gain some knowledge C, C++ and Python.
  • EU-citizenship is required.
