Architect and design innovative mechatronic solutions
Over the past years Lely has introduced several new-to-market robotics solutions and has built a reputation as a very innovative and dependable supplier to dairy farmers.
The Lely organization is quickly growing and has a strong ambition to increase pace. In this dynamic environment we want to maximize the potential of our employees through variation in assignments, courses, and dedicated coaching.
In our Product Development department, we design robotic solutions for dairy farmers ranging from fully autonomous feeding robots to milking robots and several others. We are responsible for both concept design of new product generations as well as life cycle management. On the Lely campus we share our roof with the assembly and manufacturing organization, which creates a great dynamic relation between R&D engineers and manufacturing engineers.
Due to the innovative character and complexity of our products, we apply a systems engineering approach in our projects. There is an emphasis on multi-disciplinary collaboration and model-based design of our products. This approach is combined with our unique way-of-working to stimulate innovation, initiative, creativity, and responsibility. To strengthen our systems engineering and mechatronics team we are looking for an experienced system architect/system design engineer.
In this role you will create the high-level system architecture for our robots and design and define major components. You will investigate and compare different ways of composing the system from modules to fulfill the system requirements. The role strongly interacts with product management, the system engineer and multi-disciplinary domain experts, especially in the selection of subsystems and the creation of subsystem requirements.

Technical degree (MSc or PhD) in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related engineering discipline.
A minimum of 5 years of work experience with mechatronic system design in product development in the high-tech industry.
A good understanding of the different engineering disciplines, like mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, software engineering and control engineering.
A holistic mindset, understanding how various components can work together.
Decision making based on proper analysis and objective data.
Working experience with MBSE, and SysML in particular, is a benefit.
Excellent communication skills.
Fluent in Dutch and English.
