What is your role?

Lely is a Dutch company that develops and builds robots for the dairy industry. Lely's goal is to fully automate daily agricultural processes, so farmers can spend time doing the things they love.

As a Test Automation Engineer, you are part of the scrum teams within Product Development, each working on one of the Lely products using the Scrum/Agile methodology.

Lely focuses on high-quality products, and high-quality software is crucial for this. Therefore, it is important to invest in writing automated tests and making them an integral part of our CI/CD pipeline. As a Test Automation Engineer, you will be involved in the following:

  • With the help of colleagues, test cases, and system knowledge, you check the various functionalities of the robot using various testing methodologies: risk-based testing, integration testing, and detail testing.
  • For the automated tests, you write test scenarios in Cucumber/Gherkin format and can automate them.
  • Building and maintaining the test automation pipeline and infrastructure;
  • You analyze the data of the results of the tests and collect feedback from and for engineers.
  • You give feedback about the test results to the team and provide them with substantiated advice.
  • You are involved in new features of the Lely products and associated software applications.

What is your experience?

  • You have a bachelor or master level way of thinking.
  • You have several years of relevant work experience as a developer or test (automation) engineer in embedded software.
  • You have experience with both the development and the execution of tests, from the realization phase to the chain and acceptance phase.
  • You have experience with agile working in scrum teams.
  • You have experience with behavior-driven testing and test automation tools (Behave and Gherkin are no strangers to you).
  • You have experience with programming languages ​​(Python, C++), with Python being preferred.
  • You have relevant experience using Bash, Linux, GIT, and CI/CD pipelines.
  • TMAP/ISTQB certification is a plus.
  • You can communicate well both orally and in writing in English (and Dutch).
