What is your role?

In an area full of chances and opportunities we are looking for an experienced manager, who can put Lely prominently on the map in the Oceania (Australia & New Zealand) region. We are looking for a Cluster Manager who takes on the challenges of the geographically dispersed region. Challenges such as a large group of employees who work remotely, a young but eager management team and a market where robotic milking is not yet the norm.

As Cluster Manager Oceania you will be managing a team of about 30 full-time employees, distributed between the Truganina, Australia office and the Hamilton, New Zealand office covering the commercial, technical, administrative, marketing, it and business support sectors.

The Cluster organization is responsible for organizing and providing support activities to the network of Lely Centers in the cluster area. The support activity provided by the Cluster organization to the Lely Center network covers the entire scope of the activities of a private distributor, i.e. the commercial area of sales and annual budgeting, the administrative, accounting and reporting area, the technical after-sales assistance, service and maintenance, as well as the communication and marketing area, acting as an intermediary with the corresponding functions of the Dutch head office.

Key tasks:

  • As Cluster Manager Oceania it is your task to create a winning organization by making the Cluster a great place to work by embodying our key values: innovation, passion, progress, respect and honesty.
  • Your task will be to produce a strategic growth plan, ensuring that existing customers are satisfied, and that the Lely Center distribution channel can be both activated and extended. 
  • Together with your team you will drive the adoption of robotic milking and other automation solutions throughout the region and ensure the market share of Lely will be maintained/ further developed.
  • For you to efficiently fulfil your objectives in the region, you will be stationed in Australia, and will frequently travel to the New Zealand office at least once every month. On top of that you will visit the Dutch head office a minimum of twice per year.
  • The position will also include the function of Legal Representative and Company Director. You will be given the appropriate powers of attorney to represent the company in the legal, administrative and financial fields.

What is your experience?

This role offers an attractive step for an experienced general manager; a person who has the competence to manage the complete processes of a company, meaning the annual planning of revenues, costs and profits, periodic reporting, marketing & communication activities, and personnel management including hiring, developing and the engagement of staff.  You consider it a challenge to head up a geographically spread region with great potential for growth.

Your background:

  • You are an experience general manager with experience in all of the fields of: Sales, Service and Supply Chain.
  • You completed a bachelor or master’s degree in e.g. economics, business management or similar.
  • You are familiar with the agriculture business, preferably the dairy industry.
  • You have strong leadership skills and experience in leading multiple teams and /or disciplines.
  • You are accustomed to reporting using forecasts, dashboards and other figures so that you can provide transparency in your team's results and activities.
  • You have gained experience in drawing up and implementing a strategic business plan.
  • You have a commercial and result-oriented attitude, which you can put across to your teams.
  • You will be a true Lely ambassador and can act as such in both countries.
