What is your role?

Are you studying Data Science or a similar study, keep reading!

Have you ever seen a dairy farm with more than 500 cows? Companies where the cow, people and technology work together in a professional manner. That is what we have our Dairy XL team for at Lely. They support our country organizations with information on how to guide these professional dairy farmers. These companies are located all over the world and have all made specific choices in the environment in which they are located. We would like you to work with the data and insights of these customers, so that we can offer our advice even better tailored. Can you imagine the amount of data involved in this? You can get started with that! And the nice thing is, we badly need this info so we look forward to seeing you!

Practical information:

  • Due to Covid-19 we can only hire interns who are currently living in the Netherlands;
  • This is a graduation internship;
  • You are available from September 2021, for a minimum of 3 and a maximum of 6 months;
  • You can spend 40 hours a week on your internship;
  • You master the language English

What is your experience?

Our robots retrieve a gold mine of data. We would like to have this data analyzed by you in order to support our customers even better in making data-driven choices. For example, is there a relationship between the type of feed and the amount of milk? Or the physical environment, for example barn layout and the cow results. We have many questions and you can help to find the right answers.

As mentioned, we are looking for an intern who knows how to handle a large amount of data, but it does not stop there. When you have analyzed this data, we also want to have it visualized in a handy dashboard. You do this together with colleagues from Farm management support and Data Value & IT in Tableau. However, it is not only about working with colleagues from different departments; you are also going to the farmer himself to gather more information.

Job requirements:

  • You are following the Data Science training or a comparable study;
  • You can analyze large amounts of data;
  • You are familiar with Python programming language and understand SQL databases;
  • You are familiar with reporting programs such as Tableau and Jupyter Notebooks;
  • You are able to switch with different departments;
  • You can interpret the data from different angles;
  • You are curious and interested in our sector;

What do we offer you?

An educational and amazing experience at an international company that is driven by innovation. If you have any questions, you can always contact one of your colleagues who are just as passionate about their field. We also offer you:

  •  € 400 internship allowance per month;
  • Possibly an apartment if the commute is too long;
  • Continue to work at Lely after your internship? About 40% of the interns continue to work at Lely after their internship! Plenty of options!
  • #FitatLely program with (online) sports lessons, master classes on working from home and other activities in the field of Body, Mind or Food.
