What is your role?

No technical query is too complex for you; you carry on for as long as it takes to find the solution. You assist your colleagues in solving customers’ technical issues or seek a solution by consulting your Product Development colleagues.

Main tasks

The inventing, testing and manufacturing of our solutions for dairy farmers, such as the milking robot, automated feeding systems and technical resources for animal health; all of this happens at Lely. Whenever a technical issue is raised about one of our solutions that is too complex for other colleagues in direct contact with the customer, the query will be referred to you.  You may be able to solve the issue remotely but you may also need to put on your rubber boots and visit the dairy farmer yourself.

The department where you will be working is going through an intensive development stage. You will therefore be able to contribute towards the professionalisation and standardisation of service processes, e.g.

From connecting the udder of the cow, measuring the color of the milk to sensing the health of cows. This is done by more as 40 sensors in the Astronaut milking robot only!
As TSS specialist you will learn all about these connections. You are the bridge between engineering and the field. Translating user wishes to technical requirements and support in developing a solution is an everyday job here. But also work the other way around, where technical debt needs to be translated to the field by developing trainings, manuals and giving online support. In addition, your input will also often be sought during the testing stage of new products prior to launch.

What is your experience?

You are a technical specialist and you understand the structure of our solutions; of course, you will first be trained in the ins and outs. You keep asking questions until you have come to the core of the issue and you work out an appropriate answer, either independently or together with the architects of the solution. Your vocabulary doesn't include terms such as 'no can do' or 'impossible'.

  • You have completed a study programme at a university or university of applied sciences, preferably in electronics or control technology;
  • You preferably have 1 to 3 years of work experience in a technical environment;
  • Affinity with (embedded) software or PLCs would be an asset;
  • You liaise easily with colleagues and customers;
  • You enjoy sorting out technical issues and solving problems, in collaboration with your colleagues all over the world;
  • You are a team player, self-starting and proactive, with strong organisational skills and a professional approach to work;
  • Considering the international character of this position, you need to possess a good mastery of written and spoken English. In addition, you must be prepared to spend 10% of your time  travelling internationally.

What do we offer you?

An interesting job, in which you will be faced with complex technical issues as well as being part of the initiation of new Lely solutions. A pleasant working environment at an international family-owned business where innovation is always key.

You will also benefit from:

  • 27 days of paid leave and 13 scheduled days off p.a.
  • Flexible working hours
  • Working from home is possible, be it not on a structural basis
  • Ample scope for ongoing development; Lely is committed to providing this in both the Netherlands and the other countries in which it operates.

And... at the Lely Campus you can enjoy the finest cappuccinos, made by our own barista using fresh milk straight from the farm.
