New circular barn system for livestock reduces nitrogen emissions by more than 70%
Lely Sphere officially recognised (RAV)
Nitrogen emissions from livestock can be significantly reduced by using the Lely Sphere circular barn system. From October 1, the Lely Sphere barn system has been officially recognised and added to the Dutch RAV-list (The Netherlands Livestock Farming Ammonia Regulation) – a requirement to obtain a permit in accordance with the Low-Emission Housing Decree. The provisional emission factor for the Lely Sphere is 3.6kg NH3 per animal space per year, reducing emissions by more than 70% compared to barns with traditional slatted floors, which emit 13kg NH3 per animal space per year. Thanks to this reduction, the Lely Sphere offers a key solution to the sector’s nitrogen problem.

Fourth Lely Orbiter mini dairy factory installed
Expanding activities increases the profitability of livestock farming
Today, the Lely Orbiter was installed at the Rotgans family farm in Hippolytushoef, the Netherlands. Reijer Rotgans is the fourth farmer to process milk via the automatic dairy processor. Using the ‘Mijn Melk' (My Milk) label, he now distributes dairy products straight from the farm to supermarkets and consumers. Rotgans has increased the value of the herd’s milk thanks to this innovation and is serving the growing consumer demand for local products.

10 years of Vector, thanks to our test and validation customers!
Lely installed the first Vector system on a number of dairy farms back in 2011. The Overbeek family in Benschop run such a farm, (NL), where they had already shown an interest in automatic milking and feeding when building a new barn for their dairy cows. The family initially started using the Astronaut A3 Next for automatic milking, then also switched to the Lely Vector for automatic feeding. Kees and Sjors Overbeek had already used automatic feeding at their old farm, but it was a rail system. The Vector offered them much more flexibility.
