Techcompany Milkalyser under Lely ownership

From January 2020, the UK techcompany Milkalyser will be under Lely ownership. Milkalyser has developed technology based on lateral flow, which amongst others make it possible to measure progesterone. This measurement will not only indicate when is the best moment for insemination of the cow, but can also serve as an indirect “pregnancy check”. The lateral flow technology opens a whole window of application that will further be developed to monitor cow health.

Aart van 't land, Director Business Development at Lely: “More and more data is becoming available on the farm. Not only from our robots, but also data from feed suppliers, veterinarians, weather forecasters, insemination partners, and so on. Our goal is to make better use of this data and, with their permission, to assist farmers in their complex decision-making process. The cooperation with Milkalyser is an important step in this regard.

Milkalyser will continue to operate in Exeter with a team of specialist dedicated for the development of this technology in close cooperation with the Lely R&D.
Toby Mottram, the founder of Milkalyser is looking forward to further develop the ideas as he stated: “The combination of the expertise and IP build by Milkalyser combined with the great domain knowledge and experience in innovation from Lely, results in a very strong partnership that will lead to important value creation for dairy farmers.
