The New Zealand Young Farmers club is a non-profit organisation with the goal of connecting, nurturing, and empowering young people throughout rural communities. A few weeks back, the Morrinsville/Ngarua subsidiary of the organisation had the exciting opportunity to visit one of our robotic farms.
Mark and Sarah Hexter welcomed 50 young farmers and a few industry professionals into their dairy, where attendees learnt about how the entire system works. The Hexter's farm was first commissioned in 2016 and they now milk 195 Pedigree Holsteins through 3 A5 Milking Robots.
Before delving into the system, our team member Paul Gilling first presented a brief history of Lely to attendees as this year we are celebrating our 75th anniversary. Afterwards our Farm Management Support team member Villingi Young informed everyone about Lely's data system Horizon. The visit concluded with Mark and Sarah sharing their experiences with robotic milking to the group who were eager to learn more and have their questions answered.
