Agreement on request for advice and social plan

allows Lely to focus fully on agricultural robotics and data

Maassluis, 9 June 2017 – Lely´s Joint Works Council has advised on the plan announced in March of the intended sale of Lely’s Forage business and the anticipated organisational adjustments. In addition, the company and the trade unions have reached an agreement on the Social Plan. This means that the intended sale of all Forage activities – the production of forage harvesting machines – to AGCO can become effective as of 1 October 2017. After this date, Lely will continue to strengthen its leading position as an innovator in the dairy market.

With its unique knowledge of barn automation, Lely will focus fully on the development of robotics, such as milking robots, the use of data and other innovations to improve efficiency, sustainability and animal welfare on dairy farms. 

Organisational adjustments 

The production of forage harvesting machines in Maassluis will be ended by 31 March 2018. The production locations in both Wolfenbüttel and Waldstetten (Germany) will become part of AGCO.
