Congratulations to Funk's Midway Dairy on the new robotic dairy systems installed in their secondary location in April, 2021! Jeff, Karl and Greg, along with their parents John and Dorothy Funk installed two Lely A5 robotic milkers, a Juno Flex feed pusher, 2 Discovery Collector 120 floor cleaners, 3 Luna brushes, Schaefer cross-ventilation fans, a feed bin and flex auger system and a 5,000-gallon Mueller milk tank where they now milk about 120 cows.
The Funk family at Funk’s Midway Dairy in Melrose, MN,
retrofitted their barn to install 2 Lely A5 milking robots (with space for a 3rd added later), along with a Juno Flex feed pusher, 2 Discovery Collector 120 cleaner, 2 Luna cattle brushes, Schaefer cross-ventilation fans, a feed bin and flex auger system and a 5,000-gallon Mueller milk tank.
They said, “We knew we wanted to remodel our bed pack barn and didn’t want lose the health and cow comfort we had. We’ve been using the retrofit facility for 17 months and have averaged around a 100 SCC since then. Another benefit of the transition—too often we held off getting started on things because we had to milk in an hour. Now we can check on the cows when it works for us, since we have confidence that the robots will get the cows milked correctly.”
