Introduction

A healthy cow is a productive cow and one that eats 10 to 14 portions of fresh feed a day. For this reason, it is vital that there is always feed available at the feed fence. However, because of cows’ eating patterns, some places tend to have more feed than others.

In cases like this, automatic pushing systems with fixed distances fall short. While there may not be enough feed in one place, another location may have too much feed left. This makes it difficult to push feed automatically because of the resistance.

The Lely Juno pushes feed dynamically, solving this uneven distribution problem. It means that feed is pushed efficiently, regardless of whether there is too much or too little of it.

Feed remains fresh because the Juno automatically increases the distance to the feed fence when there is too much feed resistance. This prevents feed from being excessively compressed, thus stopping it from heating up.

Dynamic pushing

The Lely Juno is equipped with intelligent software. This enables the Juno to independently gauge the distance to the feed fence required in order to push the feed optimally. This is based on the amount of feed in the feeding alley and its resistance. This resistance is central to the Juno’s pushing pattern.

Using the Juno automatic feed pusher is very easy. You simply input the route, the minimum distance to the feed fence, the pushing frequency and the feed type per group. Based on this data, the Juno then determines the resistance level and pushing force. The Juno makes sure the feed is always pushed well, even between feedings.

Improved feed efficiency

Efficient feed pushing translates into increased efficiency in a number of ways. The Lely Juno saves energy, decreases your workload and guarantees that your cows can always reach the feed. This results in a better feed intake. Because the cows cannot be so picky about the type of feed they consume, there is a significantly lower amount of residual feed.

Increased production

Cows can eat at any time of the day (or night) when there is always feed at the feed fence. This has clear advantages, such as increased feed efficiency, improved rumen health and a decrease in competition. Additionally, the decrease in stress results in healthier animals. Ultimately, this makes for more milk in the tank or increased meat production.

Feeding

Efficient feeding has a positive effect on cow health and milk yield. Mixing the right portions in the right quantities and releasing them at just the right moment requires knowledge, understanding and time. Our products for automatic feeding take on this task and are exceptionally efficient, saving you time and ensuring the right feed at the right moment.
