As a Lead Engineer at Lely, you will head a team of backend and frontend software developers who are creating and maintaining our farm management software. Like any true people manager, you will coach your team in terms of their professional and social skills, liaising closely with every team member to monitor their career path. You will be part of a team of Lead Engineers that focuses on continuously improving software development practices.
Your main responsibilities
Team Management:
- Oversee a team composed of developers and testers (first line of management).
- Support diversity, equity, and inclusion principles and act as a role model in fostering a positive and inclusive culture.
- Handle hiring, coaching, and team members’ career development together with HR.
- Set performance targets for the team and for individuals. Deliver on these targets.
- Resolve team conflicts in a fair and constructive manner.
Technical Leadership:
- Be hands-on technically, actively participate in projects.
- Guide team members with software requirements, architecture, design, implementation, and testing.
- Manage maintenance of existing software components.
- Address technical debt to improve code quality and efficiency over time.
- Manage stakeholders like Product Owners, Architects, or Senior Managers.
Agile Practices:
- Lead teams that work using Agile methodologies such as Scrum or Kanban.
- Foster a culture of continuous improvement. Encourage team members to learn, adapt, and enhance their daily practices.
Deneyiminiz nedir?
We are looking for an empathetic and trustworthy professional. Someone with a keen awareness of the working environment and with excellent communication skills, who can also lead their team by acting as a role model. You will need to fulfil the following requirements.
- A completed Bachelor or Master’s in Computer Science or a similar field.
- Seasoned leader with at least five years of managerial experience and 10 years of business experience.
- Hands-on experience as a software developer, either backend, frontend, or both (C#, .NET, TypeScript, Angular).
- Familiar with working with cross-functional Agile teams alongside roles such as product owners, business analysts, and UX and manage them as stakeholders.
- Comfortable with working in an Agile environment, coaching team members with Agile practices, and contributing to the Software Development Lifecycle.
- Awareness of cyber security standards.
- A critical and constructive attitude to handle the dynamics of an innovative business.
- Proficient in English. Able to understand and communicate orally or in writing with colleagues of different nationalities.
