Lely Center Gippsland

For pasture-based robotic systems

We don’t just sell equipment here in Gippsland. We’ve grown up on dairy farms. We’ve engineered dairy equipment. We’ve spent years installing, servicing and troubleshooting farm systems. And now as a Lely Center, we bring valuable knowledge to your journey into automation, as well as 24/7 support when you’re in a pinch.

It’s not just Lely’s world-leading technology that makes the red robots the best choice. It’s their proven systems, developed over 20+ years of in-field application, like the grazing systems that have seen great success on pasture-based farms in Gippsland.

With over 20,000 Lely robots installed worldwide and second generation robots still in operation after 25 years, you can be confident in Lely’s durability and high trade-in value. Not to mention the new fifth generation A5 Lely Astronaut robots offer significantly lower running costs.

Now is an excellent time to look at future-proofing your dairy with robots. Give us a call on 03 5622 0845 to discuss what automation might look like on your farm.

Meet our Lely Center manager

Hi, I'm Greg, Owner and Manager of Lely Center Gippsland.

We have a really great team here who are committed to helping Gippsland farmers achieve the benefits of robotic milking, with 50 Lely Astronaut milking robots installed locally and counting. We also maintain many Lely automatic calf feeding systems in the area.

Our team will be with you all the way, including:

Product and systems advice: We’ll discuss which equipment and systems would work best on your farm, and what results you can realistically expect to achieve through automation.

Installation and implementation: We’ll install equipment and guide you through the implementation of new systems, such as working with you on-farm to get your herd used to the new equipment and processes.

Ongoing support: We’ll continue to work with you to achieve the full potential of your Lely system, based on our experience testing and measuring different methods of working on farms. We also offer 24/7 support to all our customers.

STAFF CHANGES We have some exciting and some sad news to share as we prepare to welcome new staff members and farewell others this month. We're pleased to announce that Chris Neuhauser, a Lely Service Engineer and Product Specialist with 13 years' experience in Lely Robots, Vectors, Collectors, Junos and Lunas in Germany, will be joining us early next year. Chris is also a qualified diesel mechanic specialising in agricultural machinery, and we're thrilled to bring his level of expertise to Gippsland to help service our robot customers. Sadly, this month we also farewell Jordan Berg and Andrew Wood from our Warragul team. Jordan has been instrumental in growing Lely Center Gippsland since its opening in 2016, when we began with just three robot farms locally. He built a wonderful rapport with all of our clients thanks to his knowledge and willingness to help out whenever needed, and we know we won't be the only ones to miss his presence! Likewise, 'Woody' is well known and loved by dairy locals, with his knowledge of ruminant nutrition, pasture and agronomy. While Jordan embarks on a new career, you may still spy Woody around the traps as he continues to grow his own business in the industry. Dale Serong has now taken over Woody’s role at Lely Center Gippsland.

Twenty clients joined the Lely Gippsland team for Christmas lunch in Drouin this week. The room was buzzing! Experienced robot farmers mixed with new robot farmers, busting to have their systems installed soon. There were lots of tips, tricks and sage advice exchanged over some great food, and everyone was delighted to see Luke and Mel Wallace who are still smiling a month after turning on their robots. Thanks to all for making the time to come along and as always, sharing your knowledge - we love our robot community!

Danielle from our Farm Team visited Bass Coast Secondary College recently, to share with students what a modern career in dairy can look like with automatic milking systems. All part of the 'EXCITED 4 Careers in Agriculture' program, students also spent time on-farm and making dairy products, in addition to learning about new technologies in the industry. The program is a joint initiative of CQUniversity Australia and local industry partners like GippsDairy, and aims to help students explore how their interests and strengths could relate to careers in agriculture. Great work by the Agri-tech Education and Innovation team at CQ!

Projects

Lockett Family herringbone conversion

Nestled in Neerim North about 40km from Warragul, Victoria, you’ll find the Lockett family. Their 90-hectare dairy farm was constructed around 100 years ago by Gordie Lockett’s Grandfather. Now with the addition of two Lely milking robots, it looks set to remain a Lockett family tradition...

Joyce Family herringbone conversion

The Joyces were considering getting out of dairy, as old football injuries and long hours on concrete in the dairy began taking their toll on Peter. Instead they decided to convert their 12 swingover herringbone into an automatic milking system with two A5 Lely robots, and now Peter says he'll be in dairy for a number of years more.

Williams Family replace rotary with robots

Grant and Leesa Williams began automating their dairy farm with Lely milking robots more than 13 years ago. In 2021 they installed an additional six robots and switched off their last remaining rotary, now milking over 600 cows with ten robots across two dairies.
