Whispering Pines: A South Australian Dairy Farming Partnership

The Whispering Pines dairy farm is a partnership between the Hicks and Jacobs families. Discover the early beginings and journey of these innovative South Australian dairy farmers, along with how their excellent farm and business management has led them to milk with 8 Lely robots on one of their farms.

 

 

 When the Hicks and Jacobs families formed a business partnership a decade ago, their focus was on reducing labor demands while ensuring a smooth path for succession. “We were keen to expand, but our yards capped us at 400 cows, so five years ago, we started considering robots as a way to grow,” says Perrin Hicks.

In 2024, they installed 8 Lely robots at Whispering Pines Dairy, enabling them to expand their herd to 500 cows.
