10 years of Discovery Collector: 10,000 units of innovative barn cleaning sold worldwide

Milestone: 10,000 Discovery Collectors
The sale of the 10,000th Discovery Collector marks an important moment in the product’s history. This milestone underlines the increasing role of automation in dairy farming and the trust dairy farmers place in robotic barn cleaning solutions. The milestone machine was purchased by French dairy farmer Gauthier Lacroix and will make several special appearances at leading livestock exhibitions before being installed on his farm. Visitors will have the opportunity to see the machine up close and learn more about ten years of Discovery Collector innovation.

The making of the 10,000th Discovery Collector
To mark this unique achievement, Lely documented the assembly of the 10,000th Discovery Collector from start to finish. The resulting video provides a behind-the-scenes look at the craftsmanship, expertise and dedication involved in building this milestone machine.

A decade of supporting cleaner barns
When Lely introduced the Discovery Collector in 2016, it pioneered a new method of autonomous manure collection for solid barn floors, offering dairy farmers an alternative to traditional scraping systems. As the world's first autonomous manure collector designed specifically for solid floors, it introduced an entirely new approach to barn cleaning.

Since its introduction, the Discovery Collector has helped dairy farmers improve barn hygiene, support cow welfare and reduce labour intensity through vacuum-based manure collection. Its compact design and programmable cleaning routes enable it to clean a wide range of barn areas, including cross alleys and areas around robotic milking systems.

Over the past decade, thousands of dairy farmers around the world have integrated the Discovery Collector into their daily operations. By helping to maintain cleaner walking surfaces for cows and reducing repetitive cleaning tasks, it has become a trusted solution for supporting cleaner barns and more efficient farm management.
