Turning ambition into action: Lely launches global ESG initiative ‘Impact Live!’
On 18 June, over 1,400 employees gathered at the Lely Campus in Maassluis, the Netherlands, for ‘Impact Live!’. The event marks the start of a global initiative to turn Lely’s sustainability ambitions into action. During various workshops, employees were inspired and challenged to translate these ambitions into tangible actions for everyone in the company.

Turning ambition into action: Lely launches global ESG initiative ‘Impact Live!’
For over 75 years, Lely has been working toward a sustainable, profitable, and enjoyable future in farming. Making sustainability measurable is playing an increasingly important role in this, with ambitions in the areas of environment, society, and governance (ESG) leading the way. “We don’t just want to talk about sustainability; we want to make it measurable and embed it in how we work every day,” says Tanja Roeleveld, Head of Sustainability at Lely. “By asking ourselves not only “what does it cost,” but also “what is the impact on animals, people, and the planet.” For example, in decisions made regarding innovation, production, and collaborations within the supply chain.” The goal: a positive impact on people, animals, and the planet, for both current and future generations.
Translating sustainability into everyday practice was central to ‘Impact Live!’. Employees participated in interactive workshops on topics such as animal welfare, circularity, wellbeing and ethics, where sustainability became concrete and tangible. For instance, during a session on biodiversity, participants learned how this can be measured and supported. Employees also got to work reusing materials, such as PET bottles, to reduce waste and promote circularity. There were also sessions on workplace ethics and how to reduce CO2 emissions throughout Lely’s value chain.
The event also marks an important next step: Lely presented its 2025 annual report, which includes sustainability reporting. This annual report contains further information on Lely’s ESG ambitions, the various initiatives and the results achieved.
‘Impact Live!’ isn’t just happening in Maassluis. Lely locations worldwide are organising similar activities. Through this, the company aims to demonstrate that small steps in daily work collectively lead to lasting change. “Ultimately, it’s not about what we promise, but about what we demonstrably improve - every day, in small steps that together make a real difference,” said Roeleveld.
