With good insight into the health of your cows, you prevent illness and loss of production. The Lely Qwes cow-recognition system measures the most crucial information on each cow every two hours. This provides you with a good insight into the activity of the cows and allows you to know when you need to intervene.
The Qwes system is included as standard with the Lely Astronaut and other Lely equipment through the Lely Horizon. Horizon converts the data into useable information for managing your cows’ health. This gives you a real-time overview of each cow in terms of milk yield, lactation status and history.
By accurately identifying the best insemination time, you increase the effectiveness of insemination. This also helps you to reduce calving intervals. The Qwes system is also available with heat detection. Lely T4C sends out a signal when the cow is in heat. This allows you to ensure that insemination happens at the right time.
Changes in rumination patterns are the first sign of potential problems. The Qwes system, which monitors rumination activity, alerts you to these. By linking these data to milk-yield information from the Lely Astronaut, the effect on cow performance and the dairy herd’s appetite is monitored overall.
With a range of options
The Qwes cow-recognition system has different tags, each of which has its own focus. Choose the tag that best fits in with your farm, wishes and goals.
Identification is essential for automated milking
The Qwes ISO ID is a tag specifically created for identification. This means, that each cow is being identified and recognized in the robot and all other Lely peripherals that require identification. This is the most basic type of tag which is in our portfolio.
To make sure the insemination timing is perfect!
With the Qwes ISO LD neck you have ISO identification inside the robot but the heat activities are being read out by an antenna over a longer distance. Sniffing and chin resting - neck movements that indicate heat - are effortlessly detected by the ISO LD. Day and night. The data is available immediately (RealTime) via long-range data transfer.
Highest chance of successful insemination; even with difficult fertility cows!
The Qwes H-LD tag is a tag which, next to identification, measures the activity of individual cows over a longer distance in a 2 hour period of time. After the 2 hour block is complete it will send that block each quarter until a new 2 hour block is complete. The data is sent to the management program T4C without visiting the Lely Astronaut milking robot and then processed to notify you which cows are in heat. Based on this information T4C will inform you about the most optimal insemination moment.
The combination of rumination data and other sensors: the best basis for reproduction
Besides identification, this option provides information on rumination activity, overall activity and the health status of individual cows, as well as that of the dairy herd as a whole. The data are sent remotely by radio frequency. As a result you can monitor your dairy cows, heifers and dry cows 24 hours a day.
Real-time grazing and rumination monitoring for heat and health care
As well as measuring activity and grazing, this tag offers data on rumination behaviour per individual cow. This provides you with an insight into the optimum insemination time for each cow and shows the cow’s current health status. The tag also comes with the option to add the Lely Cow Locator function at a later date.

The natural way to milk
An increased milk yield and overviews whenever and wherever you want them: automatic milking makes it all possible. The milking system collects data per cow on milk production and cow health. This alerts you on time to any changes, allowing you to devote your attention to the cows that need it most.
Making the right decisions based on the right information
Horizon opens the era that lets data do the hard work. A time that allows every farmer to use insights that improve their farms' profitability, sustainability and enjoyability. Yes, even predict them. All relevant data is processed to user-friendly information and provides you with practical advice. More than ever before, digitalization will work for you. Daily and scheduled routines based on cow touches will be planned as logical and more efficient workflows. It offers you insights at the right time and place. It connects all equipment and suppliers on your farm and takes advantage of smart algorithms, connectivity and the cloud.
Selection box for efficient grazing
Robotic milking and grazing go hand in hand. The Lely Grazeway selection box supports efficient grazing. The cow decides whether she wants to go outside. The Grazeway indicates if this is allowed or whether the cow needs to be milked first.
Concentrate feeder for cows that deserve a little more
Higher milk yield, improved rumen health and efficient feeding: you get all of these with the Lely Cosmix. Every cow gets the portion of concentrate that it requires. The Lely T4C management system provides insights into the concentrate intake. In this way you get the most out of your feed strategy
Producing high-quality milk requires time and care. It requires healthy and happy cows. It requires making the right choices. Choices that fit in with you and your goals. Our solutions for automatic milking help you make the right decisions for attaining these goals.
