The foundation has been set up to support various social causes both in the Netherlands and abroad. Both the Van der Lely Foundation and Lely invite anyone – including all Lely employees worldwide – to suggest initiatives and submit project proposals that align with the foundation’s objectives.

“Running a business is about much more than financials only. It’s also about caring for our people, our environment and the communities we’re part of. Good citizenship means taking responsibility – and acting on it. It is the basis of our ESG framework. That’s why we’re committing a substantial percentage of our profit to the Van der Lely Foundation and its purpose,” says André van Troost, CEO Lely.

Social impact
The Van der Lely Foundation is an independent and officially ANBI-registered charitable organisation. It supports initiatives in the areas of education in science; entrepreneurship; innovation and technology; healthcare; climate and sustainability; and the arts and culture. Besides Lely, other funding partners include Weverskade Real Estate and the Van der Lely family.

Projects already supported include the restoration of Paulus Potter’s painting ‘De Stier’ in partnership with the Mauritshuis museum in The Hague, and research into Parkinson’s disease and Alzheimer’s disease financed by the Erasmus Trust Fund. Most recently, the foundation entered into a partnership with Codam, a school that provides free software engineering education.

“We’re grateful for Lely’s annual profit pledge. It enables us to support initiatives we truly believe in, reflecting our family’s values and ambitions. For us, real progress starts with knowledge, creativity and social engagement. Through the foundation, we can build on progress and turn our belief into action,” comments Alexander van der Lely, chairman of the Van der Lely Foundation.
