What is your role?
Are you a data scientist with a head for modelling and a heart for business? At Lely, we’re looking for a junior to medior Data Scientist who thrives on turning complex data into real-world impact. You’ll join our innovative Data & AI department in Maassluis, where you'll develop predictive models that directly influence strategic decisions and operational improvements across our business.
By closely collaborating with multidisciplinary teams, you'll translate insights into actions that support dairy farmers worldwide. Do you see opportunities in data where others see numbers? Then keep reading.
Your responsibilities include:
- Developing, validating, and deploying predictive and statistical models with direct business application
- Identifying opportunities for analytics and modelling across different business domains
- Collaborating with colleagues to scope projects and maximise data-driven value
- Translating analytical findings into actionable insights for both technical and non-technical stakeholders
- Communicating model outcomes clearly and understandably to diverse audiences
- Driving continuous learning by exploring and proposing innovative data solutions.
Wat is jouw ervaring?
You bring:
- A Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Data Science, Statistics, Mathematics, Economics, or a related field
- 1–5 years of experience in data modelling or applied analytics, ideally with demonstrated business impact
- Strong skills in Python or R, SQL, and modern data science toolkits
- Proven experience in predictive modelling and translating data into business outcomes
- A critical mindset and intellectual curiosity: you ask “why” and “what if”
- Strong communication skills to explain complex concepts in simple terms
- Business acumen with a keen understanding of commercial needs
- A proactive approach: you don’t wait for direction—you take initiative
- Fluency in English, and currently living in the Netherlands with a valid work permit. Dutch is a plus.
Nice to have:
- Experience with cloud-based platforms like Databricks
- Skills in dashboarding and data visualisation (e.g., Tableau, Power BI)
- Consulting or cross-functional experience (e.g., as a data analyst).
