From Parlour to Robots
I would definitely recommend dairy automation to anyone thinking about it, the flexibility would be my main advantage. Not necessarily less staff but more flexible approach to the working day with my staff. You aren’t tied to a specific regimental regime; you can focus on larger jobs on a day-to-day basis or spend more time with your family. The cows are less stressed, allowing them to have free access to milk, feed or rest.

The Lely automated farming system on our farm has given us increased yield, happy, healthy cows, and the flexibility at the time to attend all my son’s school, sporting, and social events – watching them grow into the young men that they are today. It’s the robots that have given me that precious time. Lely Center Ayr provides an excellent service; they have a great team of engineers in the Dumfries & Galloway area. Having robots now for over 14 years, it’s the best decision we have made on the farm.
