The Lely Vector facilitates frequent feeding, which benefits animal health, fertility, and milk production. More frequent feeding ensures that there is always adequate fresh feed at the feed fence.The system prepares suitable rations for each animal type, promoting good feed intake. Cows that can eat numerous times a day have a consistent pH value in their rumen, allowing them to make greater use of the diet consumed. Cows grow faster, become more active, and visit the feed fence more frequently. This includes lower-ranking cows who no longer have to compete for food at the feed fence. The Lely Vector delivers feed 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

The Lely Vector measures the feed height of a given group of cows precisely. It uses this data to determine when a fresh feed is required to replenish the ration. This ensures that all groups of cows have consistent access to the appropriate amount and kind of feed, which can enhance feed efficiency and nutrient utilisation.

Mixing and feeding robot

The Lely Vector Smart Feeding System includes a mixing and feeding robot that is both 100% electric and totally self-contained. The robot uses modern technology to create a perfectly mixed ration, which it then transports independently to the identified feed fence. The robot precisely follows the feed fence and does not require any additional support or electrical connections.

Feed height sensor

The feed height sensor on the mixing and feeding robot measures the amount of feed at the feed fence when pushing feed. If the average feed height falls below a predetermined level, the robot replenishes the feed. This method ensures that there is never too much or too little feed and that the feed height is consistent 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. This improves cow health and welfare whilst also reducing expensive feed waste.

Easy operation

The mixing and feeding robot is easy to operate from a smartphone with the handy Lely Control app. Monitoring the results is now ever easier. The Lely Horizon management software monitors the intake of feed ingredients, providing real-time data on feed intake and efficiency.

Electric charging

The Lely Vector system is fully electric. The operational costs of the system are therefore potentially significantly lower than those of conventional feeding systems, making it a cost-effective solution for many farms. The batteries of the mixing and feeding robot are charged during filling and mixing, so the robot is always ready to work. Fuel is therefore no longer necessary, which further reduces the operational costs and the ecological footprint of the system.

Feed kitchen and feed grabber

The feed kitchen is the room where the feed is stored, selected, picked up, and loaded into the mixing and feeding robot. Fodder that has been ensiled properly stays fresh for days because it is stored in blocks. The feed kitchen promotes flexibility, as feed can be stored there for several days. The Lely Vector system includes the installation of a crane structure with a special feed grabber in the feed kitchen. This innovative feed grabber is designed to compose rations from a range of different feed blocks, bales and loose feed ingredients (such as by-products and fresh grass), so this is a very versatile ration-composition system. The feed grabber loads the different types of feed into the mixing and feeding robot by taking small quantities from the highest point of the feed blocks, so that the blocks remain compacted and fresh. If necessary, the Vector can also combine these types of feed with products from other systems, such as tower silos and dispensers, creating a highly efficient feeding process. The smart software in the system achieves a feed accuracy of the products loaded into the mixing and feeding robot of up to 98%. This helps ensure your cows enjoy optimal, consistent feed.

Lely Horizon

Lely Horizon is the management system that assists dairy farmers to streamline their work and improve the performance of their herd. It gives dairy farmers complete insight into their farming operations. Thanks to innovative features such as automatic data collection, real-time cow monitoring and custom reports, Lely Horizon provides dairy farmers with valuable insights into the health and productivity of their herd. The program is fully compatible with the Lely Vector system and other Lely products. You can easily control the Lely Vector via an app on your phone or tablet. The Lely Horizon platform displays average feed intake at both individual cow level and the entire herd, making it easier to tailor rations to the needs of each group. In the user-friendly dashboard in the app, you can define your preferred settings based on clear objectives. You can also compare milk data with feed data, which gives rapid insight into the effects of changing the ration and a constant overview of feed costs and your feeding strategy.
