About the fund
What is the FFIS?
The Scottish Government’s Future Farming Investment Scheme is a capital grant offering upfront support of up to 100% of eligible costs for investment that deliver at least one of four environmental or efficiency outcomes:
- Improve business efficiency and sustainability
- Protect, restore or enhance the environment
- Reduce greenhouse gas emissions
- Mitigate the effects of our changing climate
Key features

100% upfront funding. You don’t have to pay first and reclaim later, eligible capital costs are covered in full, subject to scheme rules.

Funding is limited to a pot of £14m, applications are ranked and scored. Priority may be given to new entrants, young farmers, tenants, small farms, island-based or organic producers and projects involving EID or water efficiency schemes.

After accepting an Offer of Grant within 14 days, you have 9 months to carry out the investment and submit evidence equipment must be brand new and retained in agricultural use for at least 6 years.

Items that are not eligible include; installation costs, labour, VAT (if VAT registered), software/hardware, delivery & fuel costs, professional fees and used or leased equipment.
How much grant could you get?
Grants are capped based on the size of eligible agricultural land declared by your 15 May 2025 Single Application form (SAF):
- Up to 30 ha - £5,000 max
- 30.1 – 150 ha - £10,000 max
- Over 150 ha - £20,000 max
There’s no minimum grant, you can apply for any amount up to your eligible cap. Only one grant per business is allowed.
